Conversations on Whiteness: Moving toward accountability and collective liberation
Inclusion is a founding principle of Hipline, and we are proud to be a part of a community rooted in intersectional space. Our intention for this event is to have a conversation so that we can show up on the dance floor and in our lives from a place of more awareness, compassion, and love.
In this introductory 3-hour community event, we will examine systemic racism and the ways that racism and white supremacy are bound with all other systems of oppression. Together, we will develop shared language and agreements about these systems to lay a common foundation. We will explore the ways that socialization and conditioning implicate us all and the ways that we are all harmed by the system of white supremacy. We will identify ways that we can hold ourselves and each other accountable in the Hipline community, and beyond. Just as these systems are bound with one another, so is our collective liberation.
Expect time for personal reflection, group conversation, movement, and a call to action.
Sunday, November 10th from 2:30pm - 5:30pm @ Hipline
Co-facilitated with Liz Atkins-Patterson.
PAST WORKSHOPS & EVENTS
Autumnal Equinox Sunset Circle
Join me for a sunset circle celebrating the Autumnal Equinox. We'll come together in community to gather the harvest of the last cycle, to burn and release what we're choosing to not take into the next, and get clear on what we're calling in as we move into darker days. Expect movement, personal reflection, and laughter.
Spring Equinox Forest Bathing
The Spring Equinox marks the first day of spring, it marks the beginning of the astrological year. It is a time for planting seeds and intentions. It is a time of blossoming, of renewal. Join Jenny Harrow, MA and Erin Caitlin Sweeney, MA on this three-hour guided meditative walk through the redwoods of Oakland to honor this holy time of transition. We will honor the cycles of the seasons, ourselves, and our journeys as we set aside this time for self-reflection and intention setting, not only for ourselves, but for the benefit of others and the world.
Ancestral Guidance & Wisdom
This class is a space for people of all ancestral descents to come together in community with the intention to uncover the wisdom and guidance of their lineage. Being witnessed by community is a deep and vulnerable experience with great value. It is our intention to create a safe and diverse space where participants are invited to inquire, remember and share stories of their ancestors.
In this class, we will explore our connection to our ancestors, our relationship to the land and the gems hidden within.
Ancestral Remembrance: An Introductory Weekend
Through creative expression, guided meditations, and group integration, we will explore our relationship with our ancestors. We will create safe and sacred space to remember. To remember those who came before us, to remember the land we come from, to remember our innate connection with the natural world, and to remember the practices of our ancestors, those who lived in relationship to the Earth. Co-facilitated with Marisol Castillo, MA.
Spring Equinox Sunrise Circle
The transition from winter to spring is one of my favorite times of year. I've found waking up at sunrise to mark this transition is incredibly powerful, especially when in community. I hope you can join me early Wednesday morning to honor the beautiful new beginning that spring offers. We'll talk about connecting with the cycles of the seasons, reflect on all that has shifted in our lives since the Winter Solstice, and set intentions for the next cycle.
Winter Solstice Forest Bathing
As a culture that sometimes forgets the importance of slowing down, going inward, and recognizing the beauty and wisdom that can emerge from the dark places, we invite you to join us as we gather as a group to remember what our ancestors knew about the power of celebrating the Winter Solstice. Co-facilitated with Jenny Harrow, MA of EcoWisdom.
The Patriarchy and our Ancestors
A Walk in the Forest: A Day Celebrating the Fall Equinox
Ancestral Remembrance: An Introductory Weekend
Poster Session presented at Women Rising! New Visions for a Post-Patriarchal World conference on viewing patriarchal oppression and subordination through the lens of ancestral grief and trauma and proposing ancestral remembrance work as a way toward dismantling this system of oppression.
We will explore the land of Mt.Tam as we dive into honoring the day of balance between light and dark, the day that marks the transition from summer to fall. Co-facilitated with Jenny Harrow, MA of EcoWisdom.
The stories of our ancestors live within us, they are in our bones, in our blood. Their wisdom and their wounds, their grief and their beauty, have all been passed down to us. We will come together in community to honor our ancestors and take steps toward healing because when we heal ourselves, we heal our ancestors. Co-facilitated with Marisol Castillo, MA.
A Day in the Forest: A Journey of Awakening, Remembrance & Summer Solstice Celebrations
We will be guiding you to awaken all of your senses as we hike with intention, moving from the ocean to high above the Russian River, and down below into Redwood groves. We will invite you to remember your innate connection with the natural world, to learn to listen to the stories of the land, and to remember the ways of your ancestors. Co-facilitated with Jenny Harrow, MA of EcoWisdom.
